Ignite (MoITT) Represents Pakistan’s ICT Industry at Asia-Pacific Regional Forum
The 3rd Asia-Pacific Regional Forum took place in Bangkok, Thailand at the IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center between 21-22 September 2017. Ministry of Digital Economy and Society of Thailand (MDES), the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the World Smart Sustainable Cities Organization (WeGO) in partnership with the Australian Government and the Forum Global, co-organized this two-day event on Smart Cities and e-Government.
The opening keynote on 21st September was delivered by H.E. Dr Pichet Durongkaveroj, Minister of Digital Economy and Society of Thailand, Mr Malcolm Johnson, ITU Deputy Secretary General and Dr Young-sook Nam, WeGO Secretary General.
Repping Pakistan
General Manager at Ignite (National ICT R&D Fund), Muhammad Ali Iqbal, represented Pakistan at one of the panel discussion and made sure of highlighting the progress Pakistan has made in ICT thus far. With several government backed initiatives in areas of digital transformation, Iqbal went on to share recent progress and immediate actions taken by the MoITT in Pakistan to train people specifically in the area of Information Technology.
Speaking at the event, Ali Iqbal shared:
“Digital technologies have been transforming the global economy. Yet many countries need to experience the full developmental benefits of digital technologies, such as inclusive and sustainable growth, improved governance, and responsive service delivery”
The event brought together dignitaries and IT experts from across the Asia Pacific region who contributed to high-level discussions on Digital Governments and Smart Sustainable Cities.
On day two of the event, the discussions held included several key topics like Digital Government and Digital Public Services, Digital Transformation, Smart Sustainable Cities, Digital Societies and Innovations.
