The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications (MoITT) has digitized Hajj operations, introducing a mobile app developed at an unprecedented pace to streamline the pilgrimage experience. Caretaker IT Minister Dr Umar Saif and Caretaker Minister for Religious Affairs Aneeq Ahmed jointly unveiled the application, crafted by the National Information Technology Board (NITB). The launch marks a significant milestone in the country’s accelerated digitalization efforts, guided by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).

Dr. Umar Saif highlighted key features of the app, emphasizing its ability to facilitate pilgrims’ registration through one-time passwords (OTPs) sent via SMS. Pilgrims receive a unique ID, utilizing their CNIC and application number, allowing them to manage personal details, track application status, and receive real-time updates. The application offers comprehensive information, covering personal, group, Mehram, helper details, additional facilities, Hajj dues, nominee information, bank account details, and training schedules.

The multilingual app, initially available in Urdu and English, offers a user-friendly experience, with more languages to be added soon. Pilgrims can access flight details, accommodation information for Makkah and Madinah, submit inquiries, complaints, and requests. Notably, the app incorporates an offline map feature, enabling pilgrims to select destinations with the shortest routes and share their location.

Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Aneeq Ahmed applauded the collaboration between the Ministry of IT and NITB, emphasizing the need to modernize the existing Hajj system. He commended the Hajj Application as a timely solution, serving as a centralized platform seamlessly integrating with existing Ministry systems.

The Pak Hajj app is available for download on the Google Play Store, enhancing the accessibility and convenience of information for Hajj pilgrims. Please note that it is currently not available on the Apple App Store.
