After nearly three decades, the National Curriculum Council of Pakistan (NCCP) is rolling out a significant curriculum update, introducing 62 new subjects for students in grades nine to twelve.
According to sources from a private news channel, the NCCP Director confirmed the overhaul of a total of 38 subjects for the curriculum spanning from class 9th to 12th. Notably, Trade Fair Technical Education and Technical Subjects will now be included as optional subjects in the National Council’s curriculum.
The Director disclosed that among the technical education subjects, there are 10 additional technical subjects, along with 14 upgraded technical subjects, adding up to a total of 38 optional subjects introduced for classes nine through twelve.
The implementation of new educational content for optional subjects for ninth to eleventh classes is expected to commence next year. The Director also announced the inclusion of subjects such as Medical Technology, Fashion Designing, and Dress Making in technical education.
Moreover, subjects like Graphic Designing and Media Production, Hospitality Management, Tourism Management, and Data Coding are set to be incorporated. Upgraded technical subjects will include Advertising, Telecommunication Technology, Solar Construction, Computer Application, Computer Hardware, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, and Event Management.
Additionally, Food Processing, Conservation, Motor Winding, Automation and Robotics Technology, Welding, and Woodwork are among the subjects to be added to the curriculum, as revealed by the NCCP Director.
Furthermore, the Director unveiled plans to include global languages such as Chinese, French, Persian, and Arabic in the curriculum, reflecting the evolving educational landscape in Pakistan.
