Accelerating Asia, a venture capital firm, has announced its investment in over 100 founders from 70 startups since 2019. The firm’s portfolio companies have achieved a 100% success rate in raising external capital. With its $20 million Fund II, Accelerating Asia focuses on pre-Series A investments in Southeast and South Asia.
Cohort 8, the latest group of startups supported by Accelerating Asia, represents seven markets in Southeast Asia, South Asia, and the Middle East and North Africa region. These startups span various sectors including agritech, education, e-commerce, logistics, and more.
Among the startups in Cohort 8, Pattern stands out as Pakistan’s first social food app. Pattern targets the dine-in and pick-up experience, which is a more profitable market segment than delivery. Pattern is Accelerating Asia’s third investment in Pakistan, following Godaam Technologies and BizB.
All ten startups in Cohort 8 have demonstrated significant market traction and have collectively raised $5.8 million to date. Despite the general decline in funding, these startups have successfully secured investments due to their strong revenue growth, with an average monthly revenue of over $27,000 and a Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) of over $57,000 per month.
The selection of Cohort 8 startups was based on their exceptional market traction, which sets them apart from other applicants. Accelerating Asia plans to work closely with these startups to build on their early successes, expand into new regions, and attract funding from a wider range of international investors.
In line with its mission to drive positive change, Accelerating Asia focuses on startups that have a significant social impact. The firm invests in businesses with impact embedded in their core business models, resulting in the creation of over 1,000 jobs, with a special emphasis on gender lens investments.
With 70 startups across eight cohorts, operating in more than 20 verticals and led by over 100 founders, Accelerating Asia’s portfolio showcases impressive revenue growth. The startups in its portfolio have raised a total of $63.8 million in venture capital, valuing the entire portfolio at $600 million. Notable investors in the portfolio include Sequoia Capital, Cocoon Capital, MDI Ventures, Wavemaker Partners, and Indonesia Women Empowerment Fund.
Accelerating Asia’s size and reach enable investors to diversify their portfolios, access high-quality startups, and tap into the portfolio as a source of potential investment opportunities. Cohort 8 is the fourth batch of investments since the launch of Fund II in 2021.
